By default OpenCorporates licences its rights (particularly database rights) under the Share-Alike Attribution Open Database License, which allows free reuse, even commercially, provided that the product of the data is also published under the same Share-Alike Attribution licence (see licence).
Organisations that wish to incorporate the data on OpenCorporates into proprietary, private or sensitive databases or products, and therefore cannot or do not wish to publish the resultant product, or don't want the published product to conform to the Open Database Licence, will need to licence the data without OpenCorporates' share-alike attribution restrictions.
We offer a simple set of options for using the data without these that are both innovative and highly cost-effective. This also has the dual benefit of encouraging further open data to be published and provides a sustainable business model for OpenCorporates.
The licence can be downloaded from http://opencorporates.com/downloads/non_odbl_licence.pdf, and we will shortly be automating the process of issuing these to make it quicker and simpler. In the meantime, please contact with your company details, and we will send you details of how you may make payment.
Prices are per legal entity using the data, with payment in advance, followed by the emailing of a receipt. For those organisations that need to pay following receipt of an invoice there will be a premium of 30% on the prices below.
